"Mosquitoes do not exist in Iceland"

ICELAND
a land far greener than what its name would lead you to think. Offshore from Greenland and Norway, this little Island is the battleground of where fire meets ice, housing around 130 volcanoes (both active and inactive, with a few infrequent eruptions).

And yes, it’s true, the continent of Iceland looks like a duck… but don’t take it from us - come see it yourself on a life-changing adventure and visit Iceland for a week.
If you haven’t’ already seen our 41 Places in Iceland you seriously Need to Visit in 2016, you should probably do that. Right now. Click the link. You know you want to.
We’ve taken the time to bring together an array of places to visit and things to do along our planned Iceland Tour, narrowing down the list of endless Icelandic attractions to pick through, (Including the infamous sport of ice-picking itself…)
Picture
We’ll be starting our Holiday in the very Capital of Iceland, Reykjavik. (Don’t worry- you aren’t the only one who loves the impossible-to-pronounce words of the Icelandic Language). Make sure to check out Flights to Reykjavik in advance to be prepared.
1.  Grab a Revolutionary View from Hallgrimskirkja
Picture
Starting in 1945, this 73m hulk of a church tower took over 41 years to build. With just a two minute elevator ride to the top, you can catch a majestic 360 degree view of the entire city without having to magically summit the nearby Mount Elsja YES PLEASE.
Picture
3.  Super Jeep Tour to the Northern Lights
Apart from how exciting the word “Super-Jeep” sounds, the Northern lights are definitely one of the most spectacular, enlightening sights on this entire planet. Literally.
Picture
4.  Happy Campers Van Rental
By combining lodging and transportation, you will have the freedom and flexibility to discover Iceland exactly the way you want.
Picture
5.  Walking along Olfusa
Take time to admire one of the many Iceland Attractions- an infinite list of amazing rivers and breath-taking waterfalls in this icy terrain. Olfusa is not only badass for its name, but also for being Icelands Largest Rive, passing through the town of Selfoss.
Picture
6.  Geothermal is the new green
Picture
I bet you don’t have geysers or geothermal activity in your own country. But Iceland does. Iceland has everything -- Including an endless supply of green energy from the iconic Golden Circle Iceland, a main attraction of geysers and waterfalls 15 minutes from Selfoss town. Learn about efficient energy and see some of the coolest earthly phenomena in one day.
7.  Visit Volcanoes - LIKE A BOSS
How many people can say they’ve actually seen and climbed a volcano? Don’t answer that- this trip is not about those people. It’s about YOU. So make sure your name is not on that list. Make sure your name is on the very-cool-people-who-have-climbed-a-volcano list. And not just any Volcano. But the Iceland Volcano, Eyjafjallajökull.
Picture
8.  Spend time Puffin around
Iceland is home to one of the most iconic birds on the planet: Puffins. Did you know these birds are on the endangered list? Iceland knows this. That’s why Iceland keeps their Puffins safe and free in their natural habitat.
9.  I’ll be Black, said the Beach
You haven’t really been to the beach until you’ve been to Iceland’s beach, because Iceland’s beach has black sand. And let’s face it, that’s really cool. That’s almost too cool. But that’s why we’ve chosen to visit Iceland. Because Iceland is really cool.
Picture
10.  Or Red
Picture
For those who are true beach lovers, don’t mistake Iceland weather as non-beachy. Make sure you stop by Rauoisandur – (literally meaning Red Sand) for yet another surreal experience of endless sand and sea. Put on your camera and take off your shoes- this one calls for a walk of winding down.
11.  Fjadrargljufur Canyon
Just when you thought Iceland couldn’t get more beautiful – it did. Whether you choose to take a day hike through the Canyon, or to drive to some beautiful look-out points, this Canyon is a must for everyone travelling Iceland.
Picture
12.  There ‘aint no crater like the Laki Craters
One of the biggest lava eruptions in history began here. Not only can you explore this landmark of history to better understand the eccentric beauty found in Iceland’s nature, but you can opt to do a photographic workshop during your tour too. Up your skill AND explore a world that looks like a scene from Lord of the Rings? SHUT-UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.
Picture
13.  Pools of the People
Picture
A big rock-pool of steaming, spring water, complete with crisp, clean air and an icy backdrop? Sounds like the geyser pools in Landmannalaugar. It also sounds like your next bath. (By the way- every River in Landmannalaugar is hot. And legal to the public to bathe in)
14.  May the Horse be with you
Hiking is awesome. But let’s face it, there is something so much more mysterious about riding a horse through the beautiful landscapes of Iceland. Besides, who wouldn’t want a moment of feeling like an Ancient Nordic traveller, meandering along the mountains upon his noble steed?
Exactly.

16.  Blue Lagoon Iceland Geothermal Pools
Probably one of the most famous of Iceland’s many attractions, who would want to miss the opportunity to a day in a geothermal spa? Anyone? We didn’t think so.
17.  Not just any Pizza, but secret Pizza
Hidden upstairs through a cult-looking black door, the iconic Hverfisgata 12 is a secret pizzeria with some of the most creative combinations of pizza toppings found in this century. Or possibly ever. How could you say no? Also, if anybody asks… you didn’t hear about this place from us.
Picture
18.  Viking World
Picture
No really. This museum houses five exhibitions of the most exquisite Viking history ever. How to train your dragon just became your present reality.
19.  Jazz me slowly
Every Tuesday evening at 8:30p.m, you can catch some of the sexiest Icelandic Jazz talent at the Kex Hotel. That’s right, I’m buying my ticket right now too.
Picture
20.  Nordic Craft Beer
Don’t let Iceland’s history with Alcohol discourage you. The finest craft beer can be found at Olstofan Ölstofan- yet another niche, cozy restaurant to see.
Picture
22.  Meet Dwarves and Elves in Dimmuborgir
Walk through the historic lava formations of Dimmuborgir and meet some unexpected travellers on the way.
Picture
23.  Pubcrawl
Sure, we could grab a few beers at home. But with some of the most unique pubs to be found, spend some time taking a run-tour on your rest day.
Picture
24.  Folklore For the Win
Spend some time learning about the mysterious and strange beliefs of the Icelandic people at Skogasafn, the local folklore museum.
25.  Watch some Whales
Take a walk through the Reykjavik Harbour and book a whale watching tour while you’re at it. Who wouldn’t want the opportunity to make this pun?
Picture
26.  And then eat them
Picture
This may not appeal to us all, but with Iceland adhering to safe fishing practice, Whale is one of their more local delicacies, and where better to enjoy a dish than its very own home country?
27.  Do it at Dettifoss
I don’t care what it is. But do something, and take a photo of it, and then show the world that you were at one of the largest, most breath taking waterfalls in the whole of Europe, doing it.
Picture
28.  Forget your Jersey- it’s all about that Lopapeysa
The very trend-setters of thick, chunky winter jerseys themselves- make sure to grab yourself the original Lopapeysa while touring in Iceland. Because it’ll keep you as warm as this guy.
Picture
29.  Go Ice Caving
Ice Caves, Crystal Caves, Mesmerizing works of nature. In other words- don’t miss this.
Picture
30.  Landmannalaugar
Some of us want to go to Mars. Some of us are smart enough to just experience the scenery of another planet on our very own planet at Ladmannalaugar. Yes, it is THAT out worldly.
31.  Kirkjufell Mountain
Picture
Look at this picture. Exactly.
Picture
33.  Tour Glaciers - Forget to Breath
Iceland has some scenery that will literally take your breath away. Book a mountain tour to make the most out of the time you have available.
Picture
34.  You could also Fly
Picture
Book a flight over the South Coast and Central Highlands of Iceland, just to make sure you get it all in.
35.  Oh, and hike on Lava
If this one wasn’t on your bucket list before- it is now. Take a day hike over Fimmvorduhals. That’s definitely a picture for your moms mantle-piece.
Picture
36.  Witness a Volcanic Eruption
Okay, okay, so this one sounds a bit extreme, and there are no guarantees. But if you play your timing right, you may just get to see this flamboyant act of creation right before your little human eyes.
Picture
37.  Rhyolites
Or shall we rather call them vanilla-ice cream mountains drizzled with earth chocolate sauce. Yum!
Picture
38.  Floating Glass
Picture
Well, at least that’s what the ice looks like at Jokulsarlong Lagoon; like a rebel ice-blower decided to release all his master creations to nature.
39.  The worlds Biggest Elephant in Heimaey
Which happens to be a rock, but probably the coolest rock on this planet, considering it looks exactly like an Elephant.
Picture
40.  Rest in Piece
Picture
41.  Decide to never come home.
While we will not be personally responsible for your decision to stay, we already know by the end of the tour you would have made arrangements to move your whole family over. And that’s okay.

No need to lie, there are mosquitos in Iceland, just not so many nor so aggressive.
