It is the perfect spot; The Country Trax weekend training facility at Njalo-Njalo Safaris, Touws River. I cannot imagine a better place to practice one's skills and enhancing your riding capabilities. The farm offers a great selection of dirt roads; hard packed gravel, sand, clay, rocks and the occasional shrub you find yourself in after misjudging a muddy turn. Viewing game on the go is an added bonus! Only an adventure motorcyclist would be able to share that |
indescribable feeling of freedom when riding standing up, in the sticks, in that golden hour before sunset, game grazing…
I am always amazed by how much an already experienced rider can learn from the Country Trax courses, or at least improve on. Once again I realised you are never too wise to learn!
Whether it's acquiring a new skill or shaking a bad habit, these courses are designed to transform even the best of riders into better, safer riders… and maybe slightly crazier… it comes with the extra, well deserved confidence.
Yes, it's fun all day long, but make no mistake, it's hard work acquiring the technical skills. Johan drills it into you, over and over. At some stage you can't help but wonder: "Why is he teaching us all this… stuff?"
And then you go out on the farm… whoaaaaa! All of sudden everything makes sense and falls into place. All the skills you've acquired come naturally and the ride is soooooo much more fun! Even sand riding with the 1200gs, a previous palm-sweating event, now became fun!
Thanks again to Johan and Leon from Country Trax for a fantastic riding weekend. A big thanks to our host, Andre, also a keen adventure rider. I truly hope he sees the light some day and trades his vibrator… I mean KTM, for a BMW.
