So we have decided to spice things up a bit, by doing something different. Normally we do a Cape Town - Windhoek tour, or a Windhoek loop ride, but since we were a small group, we decided to do a Cape Town - Windhoek - Cape Town loop ride, either in May or October. No back-up vehicle, less rest days, longer rides in much hotter conditions than normally... adventure travel not for the average Joe! Now add a German and an Italian to the mix, just to add some dynamics to the |
group, and viola, you have something beautiful that works ;)

We start the tour off with our Pass hopping day - at Franschhoek Pass.
Bainskloof Pass with Wellington in the background.
At the top of Katbakkies Pass, with the Koue Bokkeveld and Cederbrerg to the one side, and Tankwa Karoo to the other.
What better way than to end our day in the Cederberg with a couple of beers.
Making our way through the Cederberg mountain range. The combination of breathtaking views and exciting roads makes the Cederberg region a must for the Adventure Traveller.
Time for a splash, to be cool by the pool.
An Adventure Motorcycle parked behind you, a fire going right in front of you, clear skies with bright stars above, and a glass of wine in your hand...
Best kept secrets of the Northern Cape, fantastic gravel passes!
Last sunset in South Africa... for now.
Taking a breather from the crazy 40 degrees Celsius day at Felix Unite, Namibia. On the far side of the Orange River lies South Africa.
Riding along the Orange River, which forms a natural border between South Africa and Namibia, making our way towards Aus.
Enjoying sundowners at Aus after a tough day's riding in extremely hot conditions.
Making our way through the desert from Aus to Sossusvlei.
Sunset at Sossusvlei Lodge. Amazing how many different colours you experience in such an arid landscape.
Up Dune 45 we go. Quite a climb but the view makes it worth every step. Followed by a visit to Deadvlei with its famous fossilised trees... Our idea of an African Safari.
And of course we need to get rid of the sand and dust..
On the road again, making our way to Solitaire, to try out its famous apple pie.
At the Tropic of Capricorn shortly before descending into Gaub Pass and Kuiseb Canyon. From Kuiseb we crossed the Namib desert and finally hit the Atlantic Ocean again.
So refreshing to be by the ocean again, at Swakopmund.
Making our way towards Windhoek, biltong and coffee stop at Okahandja!
Sandy roads as we ride on the edge of the Kalahari.
Look! An ostrich nest!!!
It is all about how you stand on your horse.
Yum! Cheetah having a snack, at Bagatelle.
Taking a break at Canyon Roadhouse, waiting for the midday heat to pass, before visiting the Fish River Canyon, 2nd biggest canyon in the world.
Pool time at Canyon Village, our accommodation for the night.
Making our way back to Cape Town, last stop the tented camp at Garies.
