Our German friends visited South Africa for their third motorcycle trip. On their last trip, we thought it best to show them our special place, the Tankwa Karoo!

We started in the Breede River Valley and made our way northeast along the gravel roads of the beautiful Anysberg Nature Reserve, towards Laingsburg. From there, we made our way in a northerly direction towards Sutherland, but with a detour through the steep Ouberg Pass. From Sutherland, we went down the escarpment via Gannaga Pass onto the open plains of the Tankwa Karoo National Park.

We spent the night in rustic cottages, after having a braai under the clear skies of the Tankwa Karoo. Ah, the open space!

The next day we travelled through the Tankwa Karoo National Park and made our way towards Ceres via the Karoo gravel highway and Gydo Pass. Next time we’ll spend more time in this beautiful region!
