A tour we run in partnership with our friends from Akademia Enduro Training and Travel, with world-class riding instructors, Akademia Enduro is proud to display the status of “Official Partner of BMW Motorrad” which motivates us to work hard every day to bring you the very best training and travel available.
This is a shorter version of our standard ‘Best of the West’ tour, the most adventurous tour in terms of gravel road riding and interesting accommodation spots. It includes the most beautiful, less explored backroads and mountain passes of the Karoo and at some stages a bit more challenging than the standard jeep track. The route is designed to explore most of the exciting and breathtaking dirt road passes the Cape has on offer. An BMW Motorrad Instructor will be riding along on this trip, to give you last minutes advice and help you improve your riding skills.
We start the trip off by riding through the famous Cape Winelands of the Western Cape and then make our way north, along the backroads of the Cederberg Mountain, then east into the semi-desert areas of the Tankwa Karoo, where the real beauty of this trip lies… the single-lane dirt roads, carving through the valleys, mountain passes and open plains.
We travel over the Swartberg and spend some time in the Overberg, before making our way into town, along the famous Gordon’s bay coastal road. The tour ends with a ride along the spectacular Cape Peninsula.

Understanding the local exchange rate
Before travelling to a new destination, it’s essential to consider the exchange rate of the country you’ll be visiting. This allows you to determine how much the currency from your country of residence is worth in the country you are travelling to. This will influence your options for activities, accommodation and transportation. Typically, the rand is a slightly weaker currency than many of its counterparts. This usually enables visitors to enjoy the perk of receiving good value for their expenses here!
